Alignment & Execution
If business were simple, everyone would do it and do it successfully. One of the key reasons that organizations fail is lack of alignment. The goal may be admirable and the strategy sound but if all efforts are not in line, the chance of success is greatly diminished.
So if alignment is in essence the synchronization of efforts toward a common purpose, what is the outcome of misalignment? Why does it matter?
To those who believe that they can achieve results by fear, intimidation and sheer will alone, it may not. Without alignment all other organizations could waste enormous effort through miscommunication, misunderstanding, improper prioritization, poorly allocated resources and likely a tenuous culture with a revolving employment history.
As outlined in our Alignment FAQ, we at RMI believe that alignment is a critical component to rapid results. We assess your level of alignment through a cross-functional and multi-level interview and questionnaire process or Gap Analysis. The results are used to highlight key areas of concern and improvement.
The Four Disciplines of Execution is one of the execution methodologies that RMI assists organizations with when they struggle with focus and or getting the strategic plans executed. For some clients, the full methodology of minimal goals, acting on lead measures, keeping a scorecard and creating a new, frequent cadence of accountability is a great fit. In other instances, we extract key elements and tailor an approach to the client in the context of their internal planning processes and culture.
